This weekend will be a busy one. We have no firm plans, and even our weight training has been cancelled, so both days are open to whatever we need or want to do.
Mr. Ken wants to go bowling on Sunday; I’m relishing the time alone. There’s much that needs doing, and some items that will be fun. Here’s a peek at my weekend to-do list:
1) Laundry – there must be 12 loads to do
2) Change linens, and pick up the master bedroom (more laundry!)
3) Neaten my armoire, put jewelry where it belongs
4) Multicolore – finish the shoulder seams and start sewing it up
5) Kenobi – finish knitting the sleeves
6) Repot the tomato seedlings, chard seedlings and basils
7) Weed the front garden area
8) Spray weeds and blackberries
9) Get ready for Monday – clothes, briefcase, food, etc.
10) Send email to lots of folks and lists!
11) Write acceptances for rehearsal dinner and wedding
12) Call parents and siblings
13) Stabilize shoulders and neckline of Best Friend Jacket
14) Choose next big knitting project
Note number 14. That should be fun, and there are a lot of contenders.
· Serrano, from Knitty, would get lots of wear and I have enough of at least 2 different yarns.
· The Basketweave Cardigan from Knitters has been on my list since it first appeared in Fall 2000, and I’ve had the yarn almost that long; it was ordered from Straw Into Gold well before they closed the retail outlet.
· I’ve had the Oat Couture Celtic Cardigan pattern for ages, and have yarn chosen.
· Last summer I swatched for the Eriskay Cardigan from Knitters Fall 2000, and would love to knit this.
· There’s the Mermaid kit from Hanne Falkenberg that was my birthday gift from my parents 2 birthdays ago.
· Dos Colores (from Ginger Luters’ Module Magic) is calling me, and the yarn taunts me on occasion.
· There’s Bonne Marie’s Chic Knits Ribby Cardi, in a choice of yarns.
· Several choices from the Jean Frost Jackets book that I’d love to make and wear.
· There’s the Mondo Cable Shell pattern from Chic Knits, which I’d like to combine with Sally’s Favorite Sweater Cardi to make a summery twin set in a lovely knitted ribbon yarn.
· And the perennial favorite, Sensational Shirttail, which needs to be ripped and restarted: the increases on one side are not nearly so neat as those on the other, and that’s the sort of thing that I cannot ignore.
In smaller projects, there are a number of scarves and shawls, many in various stages of completion; the Entrelac bag from Knit Picks – yarn all kitted up and ready; the Felted Bucket Hat from Chic Knits; and many tees and shells.
Please note that the yarn for all these choices exists in my stash. I’m finding my plan to Knit From My Stash in 2007 to be oddly freeing, and much more fun that I’d anticipated. There’s something wonderful about actually knitting a project I’ve planned for years, rather than starting something just because it caught my attention for a moment!
