Thank you for the kind comments here and in email regarding Funny Face. It helps immensely.
Knitting has happened, although it’s not really very exciting. I’ve finished 2 socks.
Unfortunately, they aren’t mates, and they’re both first socks! That’s how I prefer to knit socks, though, so I never get bored with them and because mostly they’re for me really aren’t needed for a few more months. (I do wear wool socks in the summer in the Bay Area, but I have many pair of them.) BART is good to me because it provides 40 minutes each way of dedicated knitting or reading time.
Here’s the first Jaywalker sock, knit of Brown Sheep Wildfoote in the Rock ‘N’ Roll colorway.
And the first Waffle sock, knit of Socka (from a trade with Erica) in mostly blue with a red and a white thread, whiich should be perfect with jeans.

Currently on the sock needles is this Beaded Rib sock, of Frog Tree Alpaca in a pale yellow. These will eventually go to my sister, whose feet are always cold. They might help.

It's been hot here for what seems like forever! We're having our 5th Spare The Air day tomorrow (we had 1 last summer) and this heat spell is supposed to be with us until next Wednesday. We are not used to this!
For no reason other than I like these pictures, I present to you: SparkPlug. Sparky is Mr. Ken's cat, found in a tree almost 6 years ago Thanksgiving weekend. He's the king of the yard and takes his responsibilities seriously. For my birthday, he brought me a gopher!
He was sleeping on the bed with Mr. Ken. Notice the curled toes and raised leg!
Sorry this is out of focus, but I didn't want to wake him. More curled toes, and more kitty tummy!
