Tuesday I had a chance (working from home again) to knit with my favorite old knitting group. It was great to catch up with the regulars and to compare notes on what we've finished and what we're currently knitting.
No pictures, as we all seem to have camnesia when we get together! Actually, we're so busy chatting and oohing and ahhing that there's no time or thought for photos.
Nancy brought the toddler sized aran she made for her grandson, and it's was absolutely beautiful. It was eclipsed by the aran cardigan she's knitting for a daughter-in-law or soon to be d-i-l. It's the traditional creamy color, with textured areas, intertwined cables and all matter of intricate stitchwork. Absolutely stunning!
Naz forgot her knitting, so she working on casting off a red linen blend potato-chip scarf for Nancy. I forget what everyone else was working on! I can see Wendy knitting (in my minds' eye) but can't remember what it was!
I took my current knitting basket, with the 2 projects I've started since the knitting was completed on the green sweater. Nancy challenged me to finish and wear the green sweater before the next meeting. All that remains is weaving in a few ends (10?) and setting in the sleeves. I'll get it done, and bring it for show and tell, but I'm planning on taking it to Texas with me the next day so I won't be wearing it.
Nancy tossed out a ball of green Trendsetter Biscotto, which she's getting ready to use. I totally cracked up; one of the 2 projects started recently is a vest (free pattern from Lion Brand) in charcoal gray Trendsetter Biscotto! That's been discontinued for several years, and even funnier to me is the fact that my first experience with Biscotto was knitting a scarf out of the same green that Nancy has!
I so enjoy knitting with this group! I've known Naz for more than 15 years, and it seems like I've known Nancy that long, but in truth we met briefly 12 years ago and again about 4 years ago. We know many of the same people and worked at the same now-defunct company. It's definitely a knitting group and not a guild, although there's a lot of knowledge transfer. We meet for fun and talking, and they are a constant source of inspiration for me.
